Origin & Meaning of SURI: There are several points of origin: Suri is a Yiddish pet variation of the name Sarah, meaning "princess". It is also Hebrew for "of Syria" although has widely been translated to also mean "princess". The Cruise's have also noted the Persian translation of Suri as being "red rose". Unfortunately, Suri also means "pick pocket" in Japanese
Both Tom & Katie apparently found the name in a baby names book and both instantly fell in love with it. That's the way to go - when you find a name you both agree on, stick with it...names are a common debate amongst parents-to-be
