It is widely reported that the Beckhams chose the Spanish name CRUZ as homage to their adopted home in Madrid (David was contracted to Spanish team Real Madrid at the time of the birth of Cruz). The middle name of their third son is obviously in honour of his handsome father David, and it can also be noted that Grandpa Beckham is also named David
