Speaking to a local radio station in Detroit, Mojo in the Morning, Gwen Stefani confirmed that the name ZUMA is indeed inspired by the beach of the same name in California, which is just down the road from her homeThe interviewer even had the nerve to ask if Zuma was conceived there as well, to which Gwen sarcastically replied: "Yeah, we're doing it on the beach, dude..The paparazzi!"
She also said that she kinda stole the name from No Doubt bandmate, Tony Dumont and his wife Mieke - they were talking baby names one day and Mieke was the one who threw Zuma into the mix but Gwen snapped it up. Gwen insists they had let it go anyway and was happy because she really wanted a quirky name for her second born child - after all, it had to be something unique to go with big brother, Kingston
Gwen will reunite with her No Doubt bandmates to begin their US tour on May 3 at the Bamboozle Festival in New Jersey - no doubt, taking the adorable Kingston & Zuma along for the ride
